I was born into a difficult home. There was never enough food, and I was often forced to fight. Eventually, because of the lack of food, I became very sick. One day, they took me for a ride, pulled over on the highway, and made me get out of the car—leaving me all alone. Luckily, a kind man saw what happened. He rescued me and took me to the Huron Valley Humane Society. I’m so grateful it was a no-kill shelter. Many people came to see me, and I got lots of attention, but no one took me home. I stayed there for six weeks. Even though they made sure I had plenty of food and took care of my health, all I really wanted was a family. Then one day—something I didn’t even know was coming—my new family walked in. They had seen my picture on the internet and wanted to meet me. I’m a pit bull terrier. Pit bulls sometimes get a bad reputation, and the terrier in me means I have a lot of energy. They decided to take me home to see how I would do. It was wonderful—a whole house, plenty of space, and even a backyard. I hoped with all my heart they would let me stay. Then my dad said something I’ll never forget: “I hope you like it here, because this is your forever home.” I was so happy I couldn’t stop jumping up and down. I went from being completely alone to having a mom, a dad, two brothers, a grandfather, and lots of uncles. I’ve been with them for four years now, and I couldn’t be happier. My tail is always wagging—one time I wagged it so hard I actually broke it! Yes, that can happen. So off I went to the vet. My dad still takes me to the same clinic connected with Huron Valley. I go about once a year for checkups—and those not-so-fun shots. We are so thankful that place was there for me. Because of that, we try to help other dogs too. We donate 5% of our profits to the Huron Valley Humane Society, and we’ve even added a link so others can donate if they’d like. Please be kind to animals—after all, we’re family too.
